BCB444/544 - Introduction to Bioinformatics
Course Description: Broad overview of bioinformatics with a significant problem-solving component, including hands-on practice using computational tools to solve a variety of biological problems. Topics include: database searching, sequence alignment, gene prediction, RNA and protein structure prediction, construction of phylogenetic trees, comparative and functional genomics.
ComS 309 - Software Developement Practices
Course Description: A practical introduction to methods for managing software development. Precess models, requirements analysis, structure and object-oriented design, coding, testing, maintenance, cost and schedule estimation, metrics.
CompS 103 - Computer Literacy and Applications
Course Description: Introduction to computer literacy and applications. Applications: Windows, Internet browser/HTML, word processing, spreadsheets, database management and presentation software. Literacy: history of computing, structure of computers, telecommunications, computer ethics, computer crime, and history of programming languages. No prior computer experience necessary.
